Taper-Sealing Type OFHC Gaskets
for CF Type Flanges

Secure sealing can be completed at lower tightening torque with Taper-Sealing gasket.

Conventional gasket is sheared by the penetration of knife edges during a process of flange tightening. The tightening force which is loaded with securing bolts is considerably consumed in the shearing the gasket. As a result, formed seal area becomes small consequent on the waste of tightening force. Higher tightening torque is required to obtain sufficient seal area.

For Taper-Sealing gasket, tightening force will effectively acts to form seal surfaces because the seal surfaces are formed by only compression of gasket corners without shearing of its surfaces. At the same tightening torque, formed seal areas on Taper-Sealing gaskets are 1.5-3.5 times larger than those on the conventional disk gaskets. This result illustrates that Taper-Sealing gasket ensures secure sealing with lower tightening torque.
